Story
Do we allow time for listening to the gentle voice that speaks in the silence of our hearts and listen to other louder voices, saying
‘Prove that you are relevant, important and especially successful, and then you will earn the love you desire’
That gentle voice calling us “beloved” comes to us in the countless ways. It comes through our parents, friends and people who have crossed our path, making the Lord present in our lives, often with much tenderness. We are encouraged to keep going when we are ready to give up and stimulated to try again when life seems a failure. The truth is that we are intimately loved, long before people loved or wounded us. Thats the truth spoken by the voice that says “You are my beloved”.
By listening with great attentiveness to that voice of truth, we will discover within ourselves a desire to hear that voice longer and more deeply. Then we can spread the fruits of our love by opening our hearts to show compassion for those whose pain and suffering have clouded the voice of the Beloved in their lives.
Entering into the pain of another can bring its joys, but often heartbreak as well. But then we remember Mary’s “Yes” to becoming the Mother of God. She said
“I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me as you have said”.
Mary’s wonderful example should bring alive our “Yes” to the call of the Beloved in our lives.
