PROJECTS UPDATE
August 2020
Great to see everyone enjoying the new PLAYGROUND and OUTDOOR GYM and thank you for helping keep these areas litter free. We do not have the manpower to clean up after users, so it is important that everybody using the playground and gym take their litter home.
PLEASE LEAVE NO TRACE
Work will continue on our latest project of refurbishing the RIVERWALK in September. This phase will involve further repairs and resurfacing of the path and fencing the landward side. Regrettably, this will mean certain sections of the path will be closed over the duration of the works. This project is being part funded funding by LEADER and with a grant of €2,500 from Donegal County Council’s DEVELOPMENT FUND INITATIVE.
The damage to the FOOTBRIDGE at Lower Carrick has been a huge loss to our community. We have applied (with the cooperation of the Sliabh Liag Anglers Association) to a number of bodies for funding to restore the footbridge but have lost out due to funding cuts. We currently have two separate applications for funding submitted and hope one of them will be successful. We do appreciate the urgency of this matter and wish to reassure everyone that this project is our number one priority.
We also have an application submitted for the next round of Town and Village Renewal schemes. Other ongoing projects include a small application for additional street furniture. We would also like to thank everyone who helped with the street flowers this year.
Unfortunately, we cannot hold public meetings during the Covid-19 crises so we hope that this update will reassure people that we are working away for the betterment of our community. Most of the projects above require us to match funding and as we cannot fundraise at present, we will have to carry the additional interest costs. We hope you will support us with this fundraising towards our Riverside Projects when we can recommence events.
