John the Miners 5 Kilcar House 0

John the Miners completed a great first season in the league with a 5-0 victory over league champions Kilcar House on Friday night to add to the Knockout success they had last month, the match itself did not live up to expectations with both sides throwing bellow the standard they had played all season. Adrian Hamilton and Adrian Byrne beat Raymond Hegarty and Roger McShane 2-0 in the opening doubles with Hamilton finishing tops and double one. Kieran Gallagher and John McHugh beat Kenneth Kennedy and Joe Shovlin also 2-0 with a 56 finish (x10) and 60 (x10) from Kieran. In the opening singles between two players unbeaten in the league regular season Kieran Gallagher beat Kenneth Kennedy 3-1, tops and double two checks put Kieran 2-0 up Kenneth hit double sixteen to pull one back but another double ten finish from Kieran made it 3-0 to the Carrick side. It was a big match in the second singles with it being drawn out as the two pointer, Adrian Hamilton came out on top 3-2 over Raymond Hegarty, Raymond won the first leg on double ten and third on double three while it was double two in the second and tops in the final two legs that wrapped up the match for Adrian who also hit a 180 in the second leg. Joe Shovlin v Adrian Byrne and James Byrne v James Bracken Byrne were the two remaining matches.

Cope House 4 John the Miners B 1

The Cope House are 2016 B Cup Champions following a 4-1 win over John the Miners B, they went 1-0 up with Irwin Muirhead and Donal Duddy winning 2-0 against Paddy Haughey and John Byrne, Donal finished double ten and sixteen. Frank McBrearty and Liam Donegan won 2-1 against Wilfie Milsop and Stephen Muirhead, Frank finished double ten twice while Wilfie hit tops for the Cope. The opening singles provided us with the best match of the whole night with Irwin Muirhead narrowly defeating Paddy Haughey 3-2 where Paddy had his chances to win it, Paddy hit double ten in the first, Irwin hit tops in the second, Paddy went ahead again with a double four checkout then Irwin levelled it up with a double three finish he went on to hit double one to win. Match two was drawn as the two pointer where Donal Duddy had a 3-0 win over Frank McBrearty this was closer than the final score with Frank down on doubles in each leg, Donal went 1-0 up with a 65 checkout (x20), he hit double ten for 2-0 and 65 again with a tops finish to win it for The Cope. Clement O’Gara v Stephen Muirhead and Liam Donegan v Wilfie were the two matches not played.
